United were among multiple clubs in the Premier League interested in Mount’s signature, but the England international looks all all set for the move up north now. The Red Devils look to have fended off interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal.

It’s been a frustrating season for Mount, and the future of the 24-year-old has been in doubt for a few weeks now with him falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Mount’s contract at Chelsea expires in 2024, and as of now he’s said to be valued at £80m, but United are confident they’ll be able to agree a lower fee.

He’s not the only player the Blues look ready to let go this summer, with new boss Mauricio Pochettino planning a major rebuild. Matteo Kovacic has been given permission to speak to Manchester City, while many more could face the axe too.

With a few midfielders set to depart, Chelsea are looking for replacements. Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte are two known targets.
