The quarter-final draw has been made for this year’s Champions League, and with one side of the bracket seemingly weighted heavily by the competition’s most successful teams, we are likely to see an unexpected name come the final in May. In light of the newly-scheduled fixture list, we are taking a closer look at how severe the Champions League winner odds market shift has been this morning.

Champions League Quarter-Final Draw

  • Real Madrid v Chelsea

  • Inter Milan v Benfica

  • Manchester City v Bayern Munich

  • AC Milan v Napoli

Champions League Semi-Final Draw

  • AC Milan or Napoli v Benfica or Inter Milan
  • Real Madrid or Chelsea v Manchester City or Bayern Munich

Both 2019 Champions League finalists and the last two remaining English clubs, Manchester City and Chelsea, have been handed the incredibly tough routes to the final.

Bayern Munich, who are currently joint-second favourites after the draw, hold the strongest record in this season’s competition having remained unbeaten across the group stage and the last-16, while conceding just two goals despite facing the likes of Inter Milan, Barcelona and PSG.

The Germans will travel to Manchester to face a City side who are constantly criticised for their inability to clinch European glory, but their status as favourites (9/4) has failed to budge in spite of the monstrous stumbling block that stands in their way.

Elsewhere, three Italian teams feature at this stage of the competition for the first time in 17 years, although the name on everyone’s lips is Napoli. The Serie A leaders have been dealt one of the more favourable draws on the quarter-finals with fellow compatriots AC Milan, whom they have already swept aside this season.

Being drawn against Europe’s most captivating side has seen Milan’s outright price plummet to 25/1, while Napoli themselves have moved alongside Bayern as joint-second favourites with a price of 7/2.

Reigning champions Real Madrid find themselves on the tougher side of the draw as they travel to Chelsea for the first leg of their last-eight encounter. The duo meet for the third successive season after Chelsea beat Real in the semi-finals on their way to winning the trophy in 2020-21, although last season saw them fall in a spectacular 5-4 on aggregate comeback as Carlo Ancelotti led his side to a fourth Champions League title.
