Aston Villa Favourites To Sign Manchester United Captain Harry Maguire Amid Summer Exit Rumours

According to UK betting sites, Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, as the England international looks set to move elsewhere this summer.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a successful campaign, winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League after last night’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag has made Old Trafford a fortress once again, with the clubs lost home defeat coming in the opening match of the campaign.

However, qualification for Europe has made summer signings a must for the Red Devils and could see a host of players leave the club this summer.

One player that has been rumoured to leave United this summer is club captain, Harry Maguire. The England international has fallen out-of-favour under ten Hag and has reportedly attracted interest from a variety of clubs.

The former Leicester City defender signed for the club in August 2019, in a deal that cost the club a record breaking £85m.

Maguire has only made 15 appearances in the Premier League, with the United manager opting for a partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for the majority of the campaign.

A key indicator that the 30-year-old could be leaving the club is his involvement after Martinez’s season-ending injury. As Erik ten Hag has used Luke Shaw as a makeshift central defender, instead of playing Maguire in his usual position.

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing the want-away defender, as the Villains look to build on what has been a superb campaign.

Unai Emery’s arrival has seen the club climb the Premier League table, with a win on Sunday securing Europa Conference League football next season.

Villa are not the only side interested in the United star however, as West Ham are keen on bringing the England international to the London Stadium this summer.
