Arsenal’s title hopes have taken a slight set-back as Mikel Arteta confirms Thomas Partey will undergo a MRI scan following last night’s FA Cup fixture.

The Ghanaian international has been a revelation for Arsenal and is now considered one of the best midfielders in the league. Building a solid foundation with Granit Xhaka, the duo have been pivotal in Arsenal’s title charge, as the Gunners now find themselves 4/5 favourites, according to UK betting sites, to win their first title in almost 20 years.

The midfielder started in the FA Cup battle against Manchester City last night, but was substituted during the half-time break, with Arteta being cautious and instead choosing to play Albert Sambi Lokonga in midfield. The Gunners lost 1-0, with Partey’s substitution highlighting how important he is for the club.

Arteta said: “He had some discomfort and it was getting worse and worse. He was uncomfortable to continue. (Saturday) or the day after he will have an MRI scan and see what he has.”

It is believed to be a rib injury that caused the midfielder to be withdrawn last night and with Mohamed Elneny also being sidelined, the north London side will be looking to strengthen in the remaining days of the transfer window. With the majority of UK bookies pricing Moises Caicedo as a 1/2 favourite to join, after his recent social media posts.
