Both William Saliba and Eddie Nketiah were absent from Arsenal training on Thursday, raising further doubts as to whether the pair will play against Leeds on Saturday.

Saliba picked up a knock to his back during Arsenal’s loss to Sporting in the Europa League, with the French defender missing the Gunners’ following match against Crystal Palace last weekend.

The 22-year old is currently being monitored in London as he attempts to recover from the injury but with no timeline set on Saliba’s return, it looks like Mikel Arteta could be left short in defence against Leeds on Saturday.

Although Saliba was sidelined against Palace through injury, Rob Holding stepped in for the defender and Arsenal cruised to yet another London derby win.

Another player who has been struggling with an injury lately is Eddie Nketiah, who also missed training on Thursday with an ankle injury that has kept the forward out for several weeks now.

With Gabriel Jesus returning to the Arsenal side and Leandro Trossard playing some of the best football in his career so far, the injury to Nketiah is less of a concern than others.

Its not all bad news for Arsenal on the injury font however, as both Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney were pictured in training on Thursday as they continue their return from respective knocks.

Partey missed out on Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday with a knock, but after returning to training with Arsenal on Thursday the midfielder is confident on a return for the Premier League clash with Leeds this weekend.
