Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Belgian winger Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion, further boosting Mikel Arteta’s options in attack.

The 28-year-old will join the Gunners in a £21m deal plus add-ons after falling out with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi earlier this month.

The signing comes less than a week after Chelsea pipped their local rivals to the signing of 22-year-old winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88m.

Trossard has scored seven goals and added three assists in 16 Premier League games for Brighton so far this season and scored a stunning hat-trick against Liverpool in October.

The Belgians agent said that the player wanted to leave Brighton after a disagreement with Roberto De Zerbi and that a January transfer would be beneficial for both parties.

Arteta Delighted With Trossard Signing

Manager Mikel Arteta said: “It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro. He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.

“Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him. We welcome Leandro and his family to Arsenal Football Club.”

Arsenal are top of the Premier League and have 47 points from 15 wins, two draws and one loss after 18 Premier League games so far this season – holding a five point lead over Manchester City in second.

The signing of Leandro Trossard boosts Arteta’s attacking options alongside Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka and the injured Gabriel Jesus.

Premier League betting sites have the Gunners as current title favourites and predict Arsenal to go all the way and win a league title for the first time since Patrick Vieira’s invincible’s in 2004.
