It seems that an announcement on Anthony Joshua’s next fight is imminent. ‘AJ’ is set to return to the ring in April and is likely to face American heavyweight contender Jermaine Franklin. The fight is likely to take place at the O2 Arena in London, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

AJ Set to Face Jermaine Franklin Next

Anthony Joshua’s highly anticipated return to the boxing ring looks like it could be announced imminently. The British heavyweight star is said to be in advanced talks with Jermaine Franklin and his team over a heavyweight showdown at the beginning of April.

Joshua is looking to get back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats at the hands of the unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The American heavyweight now looks to be the front-runner now for the Joshua fight in a few months time. It is vital for Joshua and his team that he gets back to winning ways in his next fight, in style too.

Franklin made his UK boxing debut back in November when he fought heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte. The fight was broadcast live on DAZN, one of the best boxing live streaming platforms, with the American earning credit for a hard-fought majority decision loss to the ‘Body Snatcher’.

This was Franklin’s first defeat as a professional, but many people think he was unlucky not to get the decision against Whyte. The 29-year-old’s strong performance looks to be being rewarded with a shot at one of the biggest stars in boxing – Anthony Joshua.

Dmitriy Salita is the promoter of the Michigan man and is hoping to finalise terms for his heavyweight fight with Joshua in London on April 1st in the coming days:

“We hope to get the deal over the finish line to help Jermaine bring his lifetime dream to fruition,” said Salita.

“Jermaine is a world-class heavyweight from Michigan in America, who is on his way to bringing a big win back home.

“We hope to get the deal over the finish line to help Jermaine bring his lifetime dream to fruition.”

Negotiations are said to be moving in the right direction now for this potential Joshua vs Franklin fight. Hopefully an agreement can be reached within the next week so fans can begin to get excited again about the return of Anthony Joshua.

Jermaine ‘989 Assassin’ Franklin boasts a professional boxing record of 21-1 with 15 knockout victories. He is certainly a credible opponent for Joshua and will be confident of upsetting the apple cart and handing Joshua the fourth defeat of his career.

Depending on how this fight plays out, the winner could well be next in line for a shot at the winner of Fury vs Usyk. That fight is said to be in an advanced stage of talks to see who the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world will be.
