Following a 6-0 away defeat to Hibernian this afternoon, Aberdeen have parted ways with manager Jim Goodwin.

After the club’s historic defeat to sixth-tier Darvel, the Aberdeen board and supporters were looking for an immediate response. However, The Dons were swept aside by a Hibernian side who are also struggling to find points this season. The defeat made it one win in ten, leaving the club no choice but to sack Goodwin moments after full-time.

Aberdeen Owner, Dave Cormack said: “Jim is a good man, has given it everything here. I met him right after the game and he came up and gave me a hug and simply said, I know, Dave, it’s just not good enough.”

He added: “So we part company for obvious reasons. Since coming back from the World Cup our away form has been abysmal, our form at home has been pretty decent. I think some of the players also need to take responsibility.”

Goodwin joined in February last year on a two-and-a-half-year contract from fellow SPFL rivals, St Mirren. He was brought in to replace Stephen Glass, after an unsuccessful tenure that lasted just under a year. However, the club are still yet to find a successor for Derek McInnes, who spent eight years in charge.

With games coming thick and fast Aberdeen will be looking to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible. Paul Lambert is a 6/4 favourite, according to UK betting sites, whose previous clubs include; Norwich, Ipswich, and Stoke city. Supporters will be hoping that their club can find a suitable replacement in the coming days.
