Newcastle vs AC Milan Report: Magpies Crash Out Of Europe After Defeat
The Magpies entered the match knowing a win would see them through to the Champions League round of 16 and they started the match superbly.
Brazilian midfielder, Joelinton, was in the thick of things from the beginning and put his side ahead in the 33rd minute as his strike flew into the top corner.
Eddie Howe’s side went into the break ahead and were good value for their lead. However, it was the Italian side started the second-half stronger.
Former Chelsea player, Christian Pulisic, found the equaliser just before the hour as he tapped the ball home from six-yards out.
After news started to circulate that PSG had levelled against AC Milan, Newcastle went on the attack and were punished in the 84th minute.
Samuel Chukwueze was brought on in the 83rd minute and after a swift counter attack, the Nigerian put Milan ahead after just one minute on the pitch.
Newcastle looked for an equaliser for the remaining 10 minutes, but Milan stood strong defensively and Fikayo Tomori came close to extending Milan’s lead after hitting the post.
Eddie Howe’s side failed to find a goal and crashed out of the Champions League, as AC Milan secured a Europa League spot.

The Magpies are back in Premier League action this weekend, as they welcome Fulham to St James Park on Saturday afternoon and AC Milan host Monza on Sunday.
