Luton and Manchester City face each other for the first time in 24 years. It will be the 40th time that the two teams meet in their history.

What happened the last time Luton played Manchester City?

You’d have to go all the way back to 14th April 1999 to witness the last time these two played each other. Before the Abu Dhabi takeover, Manchester City’s biggest money maker back then was more or less Oasis. It was widely known that the Gallagher brothers shared a passion for the club.

The match took place back at Maine Road in Division 2. Manchester City were 2-0 up after 10 minutes through goals by Scottish legend Paul Dickov and Tony Vaughan.

Manchester City went on to gain promotion to the first division as they beat Gillingham in the final on penalties despite going 2-0 down.

Where can I watch Luton V Manchester City?

Luton V Manchester City will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Premier League. The match is on Sunday 10th December with a 2pm kick-off.

Manchester City’s form

If results go their way, Manchester City can go up to 3rd with a win after dramatically falling down into 4th place. City are without a win in four games and they should see this as a good opportunity to get back to winning ways.

It won’t be as easy as City will hope though as Luton have tested Liverpool and Arsenal when they played at Kenilworth Road. Luton forced a point out of Liverpool and almost did the same to Arsenal but a late Declan Rice goal shattered that hope.

Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that his club are in a mess that’s up to him to get out of. He said: “It’s my job to find a way to come back from the situation because over many years together we were able to find a way to play games – sometimes good, sometimes not, but always we found a way to do it – and now we are struggling. We have to change the dynamic.”

It’d certainly be stupid to underestimate Manchester City who always seem to find a way to get back on top as they look for their fourth consecutive league title.

Luton’s form

Luton would have disappointed to walk out of the Arsenal game with nothing but even more so now that Everton are once again out of the bottom three after beating Newcastle 3-0.

Luton can make it out of the bottom three again if they beat Manchester City and if Chelsea beat Everton at Goodison Park.
