Manchester City will want to get back to winning ways after their draw with Tottenham Hotspur. They’ll have to do it without two key players for their trip to Aston Villa.
Who are the unavailable players?
Any player who reaches five yellow cards will automatically receive a one-match ban.
Two Manchester City players received their fifth booking of the season, Rodri and Jack Grealish. They will not be able to play against Aston Villa.
Grealish scored his first of the season to put Manchester City 3-2 up against Tottenham. He will now miss playing against his former side.
Rodri picked up a straight red card earlier on in the season against Nottingham Forest. City lost all three games without him whilst he was serving his suspension. Those games saw them exit the Carabao Cup and lose in the Premier League to Wolves and Arsenal.
Aston Villa and Manchester City’s form
Aston Villa have won all of their matches at home in the Premier League making Villa Park a fortress. That will make City’s task a little harder without their favourite holding midfielder. Aston Villa will still be tested against a often resilient Manchester City team. The current league leaders Arsenal will also travel to Villa Park on Saturday (9th December) making it back-to-back tough games to really test the fortress that is Villa Park.
As for Manchester City, they haven’t won in their last three Premier League games after draws with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.
After not winning in three, Manchester City have dropped down from 1st to 3rd place and Aston Villa are right behind them in 4th; only a point separates the two teams; making this game that little bit more tense.
