As the EURO qualifying process is ready to come to a halt, here is the goalscoring leaderboard as it stands, going into the last week.
Who is the top goalscorer?
Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku is top of the charts on 10 goals. Belgium are one of eight teams to have already booked their plane for Germany in June. Belgium only have one qualifying game left against Azerbaijan.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo sits in second place – only goal behind Lukaku. Portugal have two games left to play in their qualifier group. Portugal were put into a bigger group than Belgium. Belgium’s group consists of five teams compared to Portugal’s six-team-group.
Despite not finding the net yet for Manchester United in the Premier League, Rasmus Hojlund can’t stop scoring for Denmark. He’s tied level with Harry Kane.
Other surprises include Scotland’s Scott Mctominay on the same amount of goals as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe with six. That’s two United players on the leaderboard with two ex-players (Ronaldo & Lukaku) also joining them.
Scotland are one of the eight who have already qualified along with Mbappe’s France. However, Haaland’s Norway will have to settle for the play-offs in March if they’re still hopeful of securing a last minute spot in the EUROS 2024.
Switzerland’s Zeki Amdouni is also a surprise name to see so high up on the goalscoring charts. Switzerland have still yet to confirm their place in next year’s tournament but one win out of their remaining two games would seal it.
