Erling Haaland had to come off at half-time in Manchester City’s recent 6-1 win against Bournemouth. Therefore, with Champions League action this midweek and a league clash with Chelsea on Sunday – there is a big question surrounding his fitness and whether he’ll be available for City’s final two games before the next international break.

What is Erling Haaland’s injury?

Haaland suffered an ankle problem in Saturday’s match with Bournemouth. He was substituted at half-time which might’ve been more of a precaution considering City were cruising at 3-0.

Fans will be hoping Haaland’s injury isn’t too serious as they have important matches upcoming including Young Boys, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Haaland has had a great start to the season with 13 goals in all competitions.

What has Pep Guardiola said on the injury?

In his press conference for Tuesday night’s Champions League match, Guardiola said:

“I can’t give an update. We train this afternoon (Monday), so I don’t know. I speak with the doctor and him. He told me he felt better, but I don’t know.

‘Tomorrow I will listen to doctor. If he says he doesn’t have pain, I will consider letting him play. There are lots of days to recover.

“Right now, if Erling doesn’t play, Julian is going to play there.”

The positive thing here for Manchester City is that it doesn’t appear to be a serious injury as it might just rule him out of the Tuesday action but nothing further.
