BRIGHTON 3.20
LINE OF FIRE (system – Rod Millman, first-time blinkers, fillies and mares)
Since the beginning of 2009, Rod Millman has an eight from 39 record when using first-time blinkers on a filly or mare for a profit of £73.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. Twelve of the beaten horses also made the frame and LINE OF FIRE, the mount of Oisin Murphy, is a six-race maiden but found only one too good over course and distance last time and the headgear can help her to get off the mark.
NEWTON ABBOT 3.50
FRANKIE FAULKNER (system – Malinas, 4-7yos, jumps handicaps)
Younger (aged four to seven) progeny of the sire Malinas have a cracking record in handicaps over jumps, landing 120 of their 647 starts (18.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £81.62 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 96.54) and FRANKIE FAULKNER is taken to boost the profits. The Evan Williams-trained six-year-old won here over hurdles on his penultimate start and looked in need of the experience when third at Fontwell on last month’s chase debut.
BRIGHTON 5.45
TURQUOISE DIAMOND (system – William Haggas, fillies in Class 6 turf handicaps)
William Haggas doesn’t have many runners in Class 6 handicaps on turf, but had we backed all of his fillies in these contests we’d have won 16 of our 57 bets this century (28.1%) for a profit of £41.15 to a £1 level stake at SP. TURQUOISE DIAMOND didn’t have the race run to suit when a two-length fifth at Epsom on last month’s handicap debut, doing second best of those to come from off the pace, and can break her duck this afternoon.
