BEVERLEY 2.50
SHERDIL appreciated the return to fast ground when an 11-1 fifth of 13 in a 5f Class 5 handicap at Beverley last time and the drop to Class 6 level can see him return to winning ways over the same course and distance this afternoon. The last time he ran at Beverley in this grade was in June of last year when successful off a mark of 63 and he runs off just 57 this afternoon. GOODWOOD 4.45
THE GATEKEEPER was only tenth of 19 in the Clipper Handicap at York earlier this week but was beaten by less than five lengths and the big field wouldn’t have been ideal. The four-year-old’s three previous wins have come in fields of eight seven and four runners and his prominent style will allow him first dibs on the nearside rail where the runners were making a beeline for yesterday. He’s yet to win on ground softer than good but only went down by half a length in the Golden Mile on soft ground here at the Festival meeting earlier this month and could prove hard to pass. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
