FOX FLAME (system – Charlie Johnston, Beverley handicaps, 1n4f+, top-five finish last time out)
Since the beginning of 2012, the Johnston yard is 27 from 66 in Beverley handicaps over 1m4f or further with runners who registered a top-five finish on their latest outing. Backing them all would have returned a profit of £57.09 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 16.6, A/E = 1.63). FOX FLAME, visored for the first time, went close in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton in June and looks worth a small interest at a double-figure price).
WOLVERHAMPTON 4.20
MAREFUORI (system – Marco Botti, turf to Tapeta switchers)
Backing the Marco Botti yard’s turf-to-Tapeta switchers produces a very healthy return, including 55 winners from 247 bets at Wolverhampton (22.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £75.60 to a £1 level stake at SP. MAREFUORI has run with credit in both turf starts – finishing third at Epsom before a 10-1 fifth of 12 at Epsom – and can get off the mark for his in-form yard.

PINK SATIN (system – Paul & Oliver Cole, nursery debut)
The Cole yard has a fine record with nursery debutants this century, scoring with 30 of the 167 qualifiers (18% strike-rate) for a profit of £98.66 to a £1 level stake at SP. They are 0-6 so far in 2023 but four of those made the frame and perhaps PINK SATIN can get the ball rolling.
