Lucas Paqueta is reportedly desperate to leave West Ham this summer, as Manchester City continue to pursue the Brazilian maestro with a £95m price tag.

Manchester City added Paqueta to their list of targets this summer just last week, with the Cityzens reportedly seeing their initial £70m bid rejected by the Hammers.

West Ham value their midfielder at around £95m, which is just £15m less than what they sold captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for a couple of weeks ago.

The immediate rejection from West Ham hasn’t been enough to put off Manchester City, who are reportedly set to return with an improved bid following their Premier League opener against Burnley tonight.

City have been ‘encouraged’ by Lucas Paqueta’s reaction to the offer, as the 25-year-old is keen on a switch to Manchester ahead of the new season.

Paqueta played 43 matches across all competitions last season for the Hammers, scoring five goals and recording seven assists in a positive season that saw the Brazilian help West Ham to win the Conference League.

The midfielder was also an essential part of Brazil’s World Cup squad at the end of last year, but the Selecao were disappointing following a loss to Croatia in the quarter finals.

Mateo Kovacic has been signed to replace the departing Ilkay Gundogan this summer, while Pep Guardiola has also secured Josko Gvardiol’s services from RB Leipzig.

Riyad Mahrez has made the popular move to Saudi Arabia this summer, but he might not be the final departure from the Etihad this summer with two weeks left of the transfer window.

Kyle Walker could be on his way out of City this summer with Bayern offering the fullback a deal, but Guardiola has also offered an extension to the Englishman if he wants to stay.
