In-form Ed Walker has a good record with second-time out juveniles who were beaten in their debuts while finishing within five lengths of the winner. He’s scored with 23 of the 72 qualifiers (32% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.62 to the usual £1 stake, suggesting that KITTY BENNET, just over two lengths behind the winner when a 14-1 fourth at Lingfield on her debut, could take a step forward this afternoon.

BRANDAISY (system – Twilight Son, second time out)
Progeny of the sire Twilight Son have a poor record on their debuts but those who show ability when beaten first time out (by finishing within seven lengths of the winner) often do well at the next time of asking. Had we backed all 72 qualifiers – whether juveniles or three-year-olds – we’d have found 18 winners from 72 bets for a profit of £25.10 (expected winners = 11.48). BRANDAISY was too green to do herself justice when going down by a little over six lengths at 40-1 on her debut and should know more today.
