JALAPA (system – Ralph Beckett, first-time blinkers)
Since the beginning of 2016, Ralph Beckett is 29 from 134 with his first-time blinkers runners (21.6%) and backing them blind would have returned a very healthy profit of £104.10 to a £1 level stake at SP. The strike-rate improves to 32.4% in all-weather handicaps (12 from 37, +£50.40) and JALAPA can take a step forward now handicapping in the first-time headgear.

PAINITE (system – Richard Hannon, second-time out 2yos, beaten when fancied on debut)
Richard Hannon does well with second-time out two-year-olds who were beaten when fancied (defined as starting in the first two in the betting) on their debut. Since the beginning of 2015, he’s won with 43 of the 150 qualifiers (28.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £55.76 to a £1 level stake at SP. PAINITE, only just denied by 8-11 favourite Jasour when 4-1 at Nottingham earlier this month (pair clear) can go one better.
PONTEFRACT 6.30
NARIKO (system – Night Of Thunder 2yos, racecourse debut or one previous outing, turf)
Juvenile progeny of the sire Night Of Thunder tend to hit the ground running when their careers are launched and had we bet those making their debuts (on turf only) we’d have won 22 of out 108 bets and made a profit of £45.08 to a £1 level stake at SP. It’s a similar story with those who had raced just once previously – 14 of the 72 qualifiers scored at the second time of asking for a profit of £40.05. Kevin Ryan’s NARIKO has been well supported overnight and can make a winning debut in this fillies’ maiden.
