Since racing resumed after lockdown in June 2020, Grant Tuer has form figures of 24415143140 (3-11) when using first-time blinkers (+£10.00 to a £1 level stake at SP). On the all-weather only, those figures improve to 4415114 (3-7) for a profit of £14.00. WRECK IT RYLEY has proved consistent since switched to handicapping, recording form figures of 1322 (1-4) with the win over today’s course and distance. The return to this venue will suit and he looks set to go close at least if the blinkers have a positive effect.
SOUTHWELL 3.50
DIRECT HIT (system – Tim Easterby, maiden handicaps)
IN the past 15 years Tim Easterby is 14 from 93 in maiden handicaps for a profit of £70.70 to a £1 level stake at SP. The last qualifier to run at Southwell was an 11-1 winner and DIRECT HIT might be able to follow suit. He was only fourth of five at Newcastle last time but the small field was not ideal for one who often fails to settle and today’s 11-runner line-up will help in that respect.
