I know you’re getting tired of Cristiano Ronaldo rumors, but given that they’re in the news everyday, I’m obligated to report on them every now and then, so I’ll get it out of the way at the start.
Does Cristiano Ronaldo already have his future decided? His godfather says that his mind is already made up that he’s going to Real Madrid, saying that he’s proved all he could in Manchester, and that he and his mother feel they’d be better off in Spain than Manchester..
Rumor Rating: 3 – Maybe his godfather is stirring the pot, but close friends/family are relatively credible sources. Well, some of the time.
However, in a Maxim interview, Ronaldo says that he wants to be a United legend. He’s well on his way to doing so, but we’ll see if he stays before he’s put himself in statue status.
Meanwhile, Patrice Evra, who was linked with AC Milan earlier in the week, has committed his future to United by signing a four-year deal worth 55,000 pounds per week.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Can I borrow a few thousand? I’ll pay it back when I win the spam e-mail lottery…
Juventus have finally, finally signed Palermo striker Amauri, who’s probably relieved that he doesn’t have to wear a pink shirt to work anymore.
Rumor Rating: 5 – You better be worth it…
Tottenham are set to sign Crystal Palace’s 16-year old midfielder (and long-time Palace fan) John Bostock, and Palace chairman Simon Jordan is pissed, saying that he might get Bostock and his father to send their season tickets back.
Rumor Rating: 5 – As sad as it is, that’s the nature of the beast, isn’t it? Small club develops big-time talent, big-time club nabs him to ‘continue his development.’
After setting Peter Crouch’s value at 15 million pounds (we know what you’re thinking), it looks like Liverpool are backing down a little, as The Sun says that Crouch could be allowed to leave for 10 million.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Step right up, Portsmouth!
Portsmouth are also trying to make a late swoop for Richard Dunne, and could very well make a move for Shaun Wright-Phillips, who the Daily Mail says would cost them about as much as Crouch would.
Rumor Rating: 4 – The little south coast club that could? Crouch and Wright-Phillips aren’t exactly as pivotal pieces of their current clubs as they could be, but they could help Portsmouth do some big things in the near future.
Newcastle midfielder Emre is reportedly on the way back to his home country, as Fenerbahce’s official website says that they’ve agreed a deal with Newcastle to sign the 27-year old.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Any Galatasaray fans who still have his jersey might be looking to burn them now.
Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell prefers the Bundesliga over playing in the Championship, as he’s signed for Hannover 96.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Forssell had a loan spell with Borussia M’Gladbach in the 2003 season and scored seven goals in 12 appearances, so he has previous experience playing in the Bundesliga.
Well, that’s it for Friday’s tidbits – chime in, chip in, and I’ll be back later with a roundup covering Saturday’s spec.
