Leeds United have agreed a new deal with the highly rated defender Tom Pearce.

As per the reports, the left-back has signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2022.

Pearce’s initial deal was due to expire this summer but the Whites have moved swiftly to secure his services.

The former Everton defender joined Leeds United back in 2014 and he has been a key member of Leeds’ youth squad since then.

The 20-year-old continued his development at the Leeds United academy and then went on to impress for the club’s U23 squad.

His performances at youth level earned him a senior debut against Sheffield Wednesday in March. He then went on to score his first senior goal for Leeds against Barnsley in April.

Pearce was also called up to the England U21s squad for the Toulon tournament.

It will be interesting to see whether he can hold down a first-team place next season. Pearce certainly has the talent to become a valuable squad player for the Whites, but he needs more first-team experience in order to be ready for the Championship.
