The Unprofessional Professional

Mario Balotelli, who was linked heavily with a summer move to Manchester United, has completely disrespected some of his fellow professionals, which will not sit well with anyone involved in football.

During his Golden Boy Trophy acceptance speech, the very talented, but clearly out-of-touch, Manchester City player boldly claimed that he did not know who Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere was, which goes to show how already self-absorbed he has become at such a young age.

To think that he is only 20 years of age really makes his comments and actions all that much more absurd, which is something that Sir Alex Ferguson definitely saw from the outset in the young Italian, and is more than likely why he did not bring him to Old Trafford.

Despite having already opened his Barclays Premier League goal scoring account, Balotelli has failed to handle, and adjust, to the pressures and expectations that have placed on his young, volatile shoulders, and has already wished for a moved back to Italy on multiple occasions.

To be completely honest, though, there is nothing wrong with a player being arrogant, because every single footballer needs to have a touch of it now and again to make it as a professional, but there is a fine line, and Balotelli has completed strangled himself yet again.

The Unprofessional Professional

He also claimed that only Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is better than him, and the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are not on the same level as he is, which is quite laughable seeing that he has yet to prove himself as a professional.

This is not the first time – and surely will not be the last time – that Balotelli’s bad mouthing, or completely disrespecting someone or something has made it into the press, either.

Last year after the impressive win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, Balotelli earned the nickname, Enfant Terrible, which is given to a player who’s disruptive behavior embarrasses others, after his childish antics of throwing the proud Internazionale shirt on the ground.

Sir Alex is one of the best man managers in the sport, which is why he loves to field young players, so he must have either deemed Balotelli’s personality as way too disruptive, or was tipped off by his dear friend, Jose Mourinho, who had a couple of run-ins with the player during his short stay at the San Siro.

In spite of the Gaffer not making a move for a big money summer signing, the supporters should be best pleased to have either the respectful Javier Hernandez, or the thankful Chris Smalling, who actually want to be at the club.

It is always nice to be the biggest spenders, and get one of the most widely-recognized, wanted players on the planet, but sometimes molding the raw talent of a youngster is the way to go.

While he is still a very young and inexperienced player, Balotelli cannot be considered as such, because his talent, along with his coyness, has been poorly seasoned and completely butchered.

It is blatantly obvious that Mario has been pampered from a young, and allowed to get away with murder throughout his undisciplined career by one coach or another, so it is too late for a manager, like Ferguson or Mourinho, to change his ill-mannered ways and transforming him into a superstar.

The thoughts of being immortal were already been engraved into this head by either Roberto Mancini, who was his manager when he came into the first-team at Inter, or someone else at the club, which has ruined him as a person as well.

Although he is completely surrounded by full-internationals, like Wilshere is, at City, Balotelli still does not see the point of working hard to achieve the short and long-term objectives that the club has.

The Ghanian-decent Italian has such a senseless attitude that he foolishly thinks that both club and personal honors are a given for him, and that hard work plays no part in that potential success.

Against Everton, when he should have been fighting tooth-and-nail for an equalizer for City, Balotelli was forced off with an apparent knee injury, and was seen crying and needing to be consoled by their physio.

If he was on the books at Old Trafford when he pulled that stunt, he would have been forced to ply his trade in the reserves, because that is something that neither the fans nor the manager would ever stand for.

Coupled with his youthful enthusiasm, Sir Alex has become the longest-ever serving United manager really because he has the ability to spot potential talent that will seamlessly fit right in at the club.

Harmony
Ferguson also relies heavily on the experience of his old bulls, which is why he has not allowed his old bulls to go out to pasture just yet, because young players need to have positive role models.

As Arsenal has proven, a club needs a good mixture of experience and youth in their clubs to reach their short and long-term objectives, which is exactly what United currently has.

A poor balance of either can lead to either five years of misery, or complete duress in a locker room, which is happening at the City of Manchester Stadium.

With a golden chance to be on top of the English top-flight standings for the first time since 1929, City has again proved that they are not as mature as Manchester United, which is down to having unrefined, self-centered players like Mario Balotelli.
