Out of favour Liverpool striker Luis Alberto is on the verge of making a return to the La Liga as the player is reportedly set to sign for Malaga in the summer. The 21 year old who signed from Sevilla for £6.8m is now desperate to leave Anfield as he is determined to get more gametime elsewhere.

Reports from Estadio Deperotivo have claimed that the player who has just featured in 9 appearances coming on from the bench is surplus to requirements for Brendan Rogers’ side.

Malaga however are unwilling to buy Alberto and are only interested to take him on loan. Liverpool Echo had earlier reported that Rodgers still has Alberto in his plans despite the youngster’s difficult debut campaign at Merseyside.

“It’s probably been a difficult season for Luis because he hasn’t had many opportunities to make an impact. But he needs to keep working. He’s still a very young player and he does have quality. It shows you the level of where we are at.”

With the Reds set to feature in th Champions League next season and a host of big names being linked with the club, Alberto might not get any time on the pitch next season. For any young player, it is however sad, who has to warm the bench when he should have been showing his skills over the ninety minutes.

Sevilla are also interested in their former but Malaga are confident that they can lure the La Rosaleda for the coming campaign.
