SENSATIONAL: Champions League winner set to return to Chelsea

The French say, you never write a love story twice. Sensational as it may sound, but French daily L’Equipe have reported that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is set toreturn to Stamford Bridge and will sign a one year contract with the Blues in the coming week. The Ivorian is then expected to join the coaching staff at the end of his playing career.

Jose Mourinho had earlier revealed that Chelsea won’t sign any more players in the summer window after purchasing Cesc Fabregas, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa but it is expected that the Stamford bridge faithful will again get a glimpse of the striker who won them the Champions League in 2012.

Drogba was out of contract with Galatasaray after joining the Turkish outfit from Shanghai Shenhua in January 2013. The 36 year old and helped the side to the Super Lig title the Turkish Super Cup in the same calendar year.

It is believed that Mourinho had personally requested Drogba to return to London after parting with two of his strikers, Demba Ba joining Besiktas and Samuel Eto’o being released by the club. The manager also believes that the club legend can still hone his skills in the highest echelons of top flight football and will also make an impact with his charismatic influence in the locker room.
