Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is all set to join La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid in summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old striker, who joined the West London club from Anderlecht in 2011, recently revealed that he will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Belgium international is seen as one of the highly talented youngsters in world football, but despite impressing during two loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Everton, he doesn’t feature in Jose Mourinho’s long term plans.

“You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker. I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going, ‘Whoah! What’s happening here?” Lukaku said.

“But no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage, I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”

Now, Spanish newspaper AS claims that Atletico have almost sealed the deal for Lukaku, after agreement between both the clubs have been reached.

While Chelsea may sign Diego Costa from Atletico or bring in marquee names in the summer, but one cannot help but feel bad that another top young talent was forced to leave the club without giving him proper chances. It forces us to think that Chelsea’s handling of young talents is not only wrong but damaging at the same time.
