Rising stars ready to strut their stuff in the Bundesliga

The Bundesliga takes centre-stage this weekend as top-class European football finally returns after a two-month absence.

With issues still to be settled at both ends of the table, the remaining fixtures should provide fans with plenty to talk about over the next couple of months.

A feature of the Bundesliga is the number of rising stars who are having a big impact on the competition, so read on as we look at four of the best.

Erling Braut Haaland – Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund are currently second favourites in the Bundesliga betting to win the title and their hopes are likely to rest on the shoulders of Haaland.

The 19-year-old has made a big impression this season, scoring 40 goals in 33 games for Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund.

His performances have already drawn favourable comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it is not difficult to see why.

Although he only joined Dortmund in January, Haaland continues to be linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United and he is undoubtedly a superstar in the making.

Dayot Upamecano – RB Leipzig

Upamecano has become a household name over the past few weeks, with the Leipzig defender continually linked with Europe’s top clubs.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City are amongst the clubs tracking the 21-year-old following his standout performances for Leipzig this term.

He has helped his club up to third in the Bundesliga and into the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a 4-0 aggregate victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Strong in the tackle and comfortable on the ball, Upamecano is another player who looks destined to go to the top.

Alphonso Davies – Bayern Munich

The Canadian youngster has been a revelation at left-back for Bayern to spark admiring glances from clubs across Europe.

However, Bayern clearly rate the 19-year-old and have secured his services on a long-term contract that will run until 2025.

Originally viewed as a successor to the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, Davies has switched into defence to great effect.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been effusive in his praise of Davies and he looks set to play an integral role for the club for many years to come.

Jadon Sancho – Borussia Dortmund

Sancho’s decision to head to the Bundesliga has been fully vindicated and he is now one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

The 20-year-old has scored 17 goals and made 19 more in all competitions this season to keep Dortmund firmly in the title race.

His dribbling ability has caused mayhem across the Bundesliga and his eye for goal is impressive for a wide forward.

Having paid just £8 million to buy Sancho from Man City in 2017, the England international is now valued at more than £100m.
