According to reports from Swedish media outlet Expressen, West Bromwich Albion are considering making a move for Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson in the summer transfer window.

West Brom will play in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League in 2017-18.

Bolstering the defence is one of Darren Moore’s priorities, especially after the loss of Jonny Evans, and as a result he is looking out for best talents available in the Championship.

Jansson has been one of the key players for Leeds since he joined the club. Initially signed on loan, he quickly rose to become a cult-hero, and Leeds signed him up permanently in 2017.

The 27-year-old struggled badly last season and endured a difficult time at Elland Road. He failed to recapture his previous form and looked more vulnerable at the back.

The report claims that the Baggies have made contact with the Yorkshire club over a potential move for Jansson.

The Whites are lacking depth at the heart of defence, and it is highly unlikely they would sell their star player to a direct rival club.
