Good news for the Liverpool fans. Raheem Sterling has told Liverpool Echo that he is happy at Anfield and expects his new contract will be sorted out soon.

The England international has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract which has resulted in media speculation over his long term future at the club.

Sterling, who was named European Golden boy 2014, reiterated that he’s happy at Anfield and expects to sort out a new deal shortly.

“We’re working on it and hopefully it will be sorted soon,” Sterling told the paper.

The youngster scored the decisive goal in Liverpool’s hard fought 2-0 win over Southampton on Sunday night, a victory that puts Liverpool within a touching distance in securing Champions League spot.

Liverpool, courtesy of the victory, have moved above Tottenham and have extended their unbeaten run to 10 games.

“It’s a great win for us,” Sterling said.

“We knew we had to come here and do the job and we did that. The boys defended really well and we took our chances when they came.

“You have to win dirty at times and we did that today. That was the most important thing.”

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers says he was disappointed with the hostile reception Adam Lallana received from Southampton fans.

Lallana and Dejan Lovren were jeered throughout on their first return to St Mary’s since moving to Anfield in the summer, and Rodgers said that he was sad with the reception the duo received during the match.
