Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of striker Roberto Soldado from Valencia for a club record fee of £26 million, after the Spaniard successfully passed his medical.

Soldado has been enjoying the form of his life and manager Andre Villas-Boas had earmarked him as the club’s prime target, to bolster his striker department. The Spain international has scored 80 goals in 146 appearances for Los Che, netting 25 or above in each of the three seasons, while last season was the best of all where he scored 30 goals in all competitions.

The arrival of the former Real Madrid player means that Spurs have broken their club transfer record twice in four weeks. He becomes the third major signing of the summer following the arrivals of Nacer Chadli and Paulinho.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United will finally get their target, albeit on a season-long-loan, after QPR striker Loic Remy has arrived on Tyneside to complete his medical.

The 26-year-old was certain to join the Magpies for £9 million last January, but QPR boss Harry Redknapp hijacked the deal right under their noses. Although he netted six goals for the Loftus Road outfit, but it wasn’t enough to save them from getting relegated.

He will become the first major signing of the summer, should the deal go through. It is understood that QPR are anxious to be relieved of the forward’s £70,000-a-week wages.

Arsenal are ready to battle with fellow North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of youngster Alvaro Vadillo, who is branded as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ in Spain.

The 18-year-old prodigy of Real Betis has been targeted by several top clubs of Europe but as per the reports, English clubs Arsenal and Spurs are leading the chase for the winger.

Elsewhere, La Liga giants Barcelona are looking to step up their chase for Chelsea defender David Luiz, amid reports that the Blues have suffered yet another set-back in their pursuit of Wayne Rooney, after Manchester United rejected yet another bid for the unsettled England striker.
