Premier League extend transfer deadline past 5 p.m.

With snow wreaking havoc through England, the Premier League has been allowed to extend the transfer deadline to allow clubs to complete deals past the original 5 p.m. deadline.

So, a few more hours to sneak in a surprise last-minute signing or two? Not quite, unless those last-minute signings were already agreed in principle before the original deadline. On top of that, the buying club must show the board that the weather conditions have played a role in the signing not being completed before 5 p.m.

The snow has also forced a postponement of Arsenal and Cardiff’s FA Cup fourth-round replay, which was scheduled for a Tuesday evening kickoff at the Emirates, so Arsenal fans will have to wait a little longer to see Andrei Arshavin make his debut for the Gunners – if the deal gets done.
