Here we are then, the last game of the Premier League season, and not a moment too soon for Manchester United, who are surely looking forward to a summer of reinvention and revamping, to the extent of which has never been seen before at the club.

A host of players may well be playing their final games in the red of United against Southampton on Sunday, with St Marys sure to be the last match of Ryan Giggs’ brief tenure in charge of the club.

The 41-year-old’s 17 days in charge at Old Trafford have arguably summed up the rollercoaster of emotions the United faithful have had to endure this season under the deposed David Moyes; a thumping win over Norwich, a disastrous home defeat to Sunderland, and the idea of light at the end of the tunnel during the 3-1 win over Hull last time out, with teenager James Wilson scoring twice on his senior debut.

United will be desperate to end the season on a high, with the players surely eager to show their respective skillsets so as to avoid the chop when the new manager strides into town.

Team News:

Phil Jones won’t play a part in proceedings having damaged his shoulder last week, with Chris Smalling slotting in at right back if Rafael fails to recover from a hamstring injury in time. Jonny Evans will probably miss out.

Wayne Rooney remains a doubt, so Robin van Persie could start.

Possible lineup:

To be perfectly honest with you, your guess is as good as mine here! Ryan ‘the tinkerman’ Giggs pulled a Ranieri on us last week, starting Wilson, Tom Lawrence, Alex Buttner, Marouane Fellaini, and even Nani against Hull!

Here is my effort:

Prediction – 2-2

Going for a score draw here. We’re all hoping for a good game, and I think we’ll get it! Southampton are one place behind United in the league, and they should be well up for the task.
