Liverpool will take on Hull City on the New Years’ Day at Anfield in the Premier League, looking to keep their title hopes alive with a victory.

The Reds suffered back to back league defeats for the first time under Brendan Rodgers, as they slipped back 5th in the Premier League table. However, they’re only six points behind league leaders Arsenal while Rodgers has insisted today his side can mount a serious challenge for the title.

Team News: Liverpool will miss the services of midfielder Joe Allen and centre-back Mamadou Sakho for this tie through injuries. However, Steven Gerrard has returned to full training and is expected to take some part in the match. Jordan Henderson took a knock against Chelsea, but the Englishman should be ready to play on Wednesday.

Defence: In absence of Sakho, vice-captain Daniel Agger will partner Martin Skrtel at the back. Aly Cissokho, who missed the tie against Chelsea, could take the left-back role while Glen Johnson should retain his place on right-back despite his poor performance against the Blues.

Midfield: Rodgers has two options here. Either to go 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. In a 3-man midfield, Luis Alberto could come as a direct change for Allen, else, Rodgers will go with Lucas and Henderson in middle.

Forward: Victor Moses could come into the side and take the left side of the midfield role allowing Coutinho to work his magic behind Suarez.

Prediction: 2-0; Liverpool have won their last 6 home matches in the Premier League and expect them to bounce back in style.
