The Welsh international was linked with a move to Manchester United, who were keen to bring him back to the Premier League.

With De Gea determined to leave Old Trafford this summer, Manchester United were keen to use him as a bait to land Gareth Bale. However, according to Mirror, Bale has informed Rafa Benitez of his determination to stay at the Bernabeu this season.

Despite the setback with Bale, De gea transfer is set to go through before Tuesday.

Manchester United are looking for 25 million pounds for the Spanish goalkeeper and will not lower their demands. Further, the Old Trafford outfit are insistent on getting all of the money upfront.

Agent Jorge Mendes is in Manchester to ensure that the transfer goes through smoothly and will help Real Madrid and Manchester United reach a compromise that suits all parties.

United could lose De Gea on a free next summer, if they refuse to sell him now.

Real Madrid have been interested in him all summer and are hoping that he will replace club legend Iker Casillas this summer.

With just three days left in the window, it will be interesting to see who United go for if De Gea signed for Real Madrid. Hugo Lloris and Jasper Cillessen have been tipped to replace the Spaniard at Old Trafford.
