According to BeIn Sports, Pep Guardiola has travelled to the Middle East to sign a contract with City. The Bayern Munich manager will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the new season.

The Qatari source claims that Guardiola to City was sealed three weeks ago and the Bayern boss is set to draw curtains on his German adventure at the end of the season.

Guardiola has previously expressed his interest to manage a Premier League club and City are long term admirers.

Pellegrini’s failure to make a mark in Europe has forced the City hierarchy to look for replacements and the Premier League runners up appear to have got their man.

Guardiola has strong connections in Qatar, having played there previously. The Bayern Munich manager will now focus on his last season with the German giants and hope to land the Champions League as a parting gift.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in April that he was confident Guardiola would be the manager of Bayern until the 30th of June, 2016. In such a scenario, BeIn Sports’ story fits in perfectly and Guardiola seems set to take over at City once he is done with Bayern.

Pellegrini was strongly linked with a move away from Etihad this season, but it appears that he will be the caretaker until Pep takes over next summer.
