Scholes criticises Ozil for swapping shirts at half time

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticised Mesut Ozil for swapping shirts with Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia at half time at the Stade Louis II.

Scholes, now turned pundit for ITV, has criticised Ozil’s premature action, said as quoted by Daily Mail:

“I don’t like it. At the end of the game, maybe. But still I’m not a big fan then. ‘You do it that once you’re in the tunnel or in the dressing room, out of the way of everyone. At half-time, it’s not for me.”

Arsenal beat Monaco 2-0 but still failed to qualify to the next round on the away goal rule.

The incident is similar to that of former Arsenal defender Andre Santos who came under criticism for swapping shirts at half time with Manchester United’s Robin van Persie few seasons back.

Santos had to apologise to the Arsenal for his actions, while Wenger revealed he was embarrassed by the Brazilian’s behaviour.

It remains to be seen how Wenger reacts to this issue, as he previously mentioned he would make sure such incidents never occur again within the club.
