Michael Carrick’s sale to Manchester United presents Martin Jol with the extra funds to pursue at least 2 new players.
Tottenham’s squad is still young, and while experience does not necessarily mean that they go for players on the wrong side of 30 it would make sense to bring more experience into the side.
In addition, Tottenham still need a left-sided midfielder, and while they have the cash to splash on a Premiership player like Downing, Jol might be tempted to look outside England.
I’m also not too convinced that Tottenham have the right mix to their defence. Maybe that has to do more with the fact that it’s a young side, but if the Spurs want to be more than just 5th place (a title they will have to fight for with Newcastle, Bolton and Manchester City next season), they will need to add experience to the back four as well.
So…
Who do you think will be Jol’s next recruit at White Hart Lane?
