What will Liverpool do with the Beast?

Marca reports that Liverpool have lodged a 13.5m offer with Real Madrid for Julio Baptista.

You’ve got to be kidding me, right?

For starters, Baptista, for all his talents, had a horrible time in the Premiership that just seemed to keep getting worse. His goals against Liverpool apart, he did little to justify the hype placed on him.

Secondly, Liverpool already have that ‘second-striker’ player – Voronin, and he’s doing a good job so far. He’s gelled well with the rest of the squad and is already looked more settled and consistent than Baptista ever did with Arsenal.

Third, the price tag is ridiculous – 13.5m for a player who flopped? I know Chelsea paid 15m for Veron but we all know how that turned out, right?

The only way Liverpool could be bringing in a striker would be if Crouch was leaving – but even if he was, 12m would bag you Anelka, and I take him over Baptista this season, 10 times out of 10.

So, mark this one off as bogus, unless of course, Crouch is leaving Liverpool in the next 3 days, which I doubt.
