West Ham United want to bring in defensive reinforcements and have been linked with a move for Marseille centre back Duje Caleta-Car.
According to L’Equipe, the Premier League club have bid around €17 million including bonuses for the Croatian defender.
However, the French outfit are holding out for around €20m for Caleta-Car.
The 24-year-old was close to joining Liverpool in January, but the move collapsed at the last minute. A move to West Ham could be ideal this summer.
The Croatian has already proven his quality in Ligue 1, and he could be excited to try a new challenge now, with West Ham able to offer him European football.
Caleta-Car has the potential to develop into an excellent defender and could form a long term partnership with Issa Diop at the heart of West Ham’s defence for years to come.
He is excellent on the ball and could act as a deep-lying playmaker for David Moyes’s side.
The Croatian is also impressive in the air and could be useful during set-pieces at both ends of the pitch.
The reported €20m asking price could be a bargain if Caleta-Car adapts to the Premier League.
