United strikers pairing up at Everton?

Updated

on

Louis Saha recently joined Everton on a ‘we pay if he plays’ deal, something that ends up being good for both sides as Everton get a striker in for free and Manchester United now don’t have to pay him to stay in the sickbay all day.

And today (actually, yesterday) there was news that Everton might be bringing in Alan Smith over from Newcastle United for as low as 3m. As much as I like Smudger, that’s 3m too much and if Everton can push their bid for Moutinho up by 3m they probably should.

Will Smith, if he comes, be the player Moyes was looking for in central midfield? Why is Everton turning into an ex-Manchester United players team? If Everton are looking for a midfielder, they might as well bring in Darren Fletcher (who’s coming along quite nicely for all his flaws) and Park Ji-Sung and have players with Champions League experience in their squad.

Odds on Smith joining from Newcastle? Anything’s possible today….
