Its Crystal Palace vs Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup final with the match set for May 21st at Wembley. Cup final fever is starting to sink in, with many busy sharing their preferred lineups for both sides. Team selection for the 2016 FA Cup final will be the hardest of jobs for the respective managers and those set to miss out sure to be devastated.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United: Team News

Palace, who are seeking their first ever FA Cup triumph and a first major piece of silverware in their 111-year history, have both Connor Wickham and Yohan Cabaye fit for the final.

Wickham, who has scored six goals this season, had been struggling with an ankle injury but has returned to full training and will be fit for the showpiece final on Saturday. His teammate Cabaye had missed the final day loss at Southampton with a rib problem but has also been passed fit.

Palace manager Alan Pardew has a fully fit squad going into the match, which will be a repeat of the 1990 final in which United beat the London side 1-0 in a replay.

United, meanwhile, welcome back a number of players for the final on Saturday. Defender Marcus Rojo, who missed their final day of the season game against Bournmouth on Tuesday with a knock, is back for the final, as is midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and defender Matteo Darmian.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United Predictions

On paper, this should be a Manchester United victory. Louis van Gaal certainly has the stronger of the two squads, with his side beating Palace 2-0 in the league in April. United also have a much more impressive history in the competition. But the FA Cup is known for throwing up surprise results – with Wigan’s victory in 2013 a very good example of the underdog coming out on top.

United, and Louis van Gaal in particular, have endured a frustrating season overall, with many criticising their style of play. Namely, loads of possession but little cutting edge. The arrival of Marcus Rashford on the scene has buoyed the club in recent months, and Anthony Martial will also be key for United going forward. But if Palace can stop the young Frenchman from inflicting early damage, Alan Pardew’s side will certainly be in with a chance, especially from set-pieces.

Wigan were relegated the year of their FA Cup triumph, giving hope to any side reaching the final that, on the day, anything is possible. The magic of the FA Cup, and all that!

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-0 Manchester United
