Today is the biggest day in the calendar for all revenue-junkies with a football news website – ranging from the BBC to the Sun to Soccerlens to that new blog that’s just gotten accepted on NewsNow.

Sure, the CL final is big. Sure, the World Cup final is pretty big as well. But nothing beats the adrenaline rush of real 24-hour news reporting, especially if your previous bullshit turned out to be false in which case you have so much more to print!

If you support a football club, today is NOT the day to read the news.

Why? Because I unscrupulous bloggers will spam the hell out of NewsNow (Now there’s a simple problem – spam instead of news. Where do you draw the line?) today, and to be honest, as long as you check in at 3 am on a Friday night (after a good night, of course, instead of being curled up next to your PC hitting refresh on the Manchester United feed hoping that Fergie will shock us all by signing a striker who has a ‘R’ in his name (name them all and you get a prize)), you’ll be fine.

What you should really be worried about is whether it makes sense to take the Champions League qualification spot away from the 4th placed team in the Premier League, or whether your team will win over the weekend (fantasy and real), or better yet, whether playing football with women makes you horny.

Which reminds me … the weekend preview should be up in a few hours, you can check the latest Premiership transfers here and with Anelka, Berbatov, Defoe, Owen and Martins all affirming that they are staying at their respective clubs, unless Robbie Keane is suddenly available or unless George Best is coming back to lead us to a quadruple, Manchester United are NOT signing a striker.

Enjoy your spam-infested weekend. I know I will 🙂
