Transfer Rumours: Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea after pricey young talent

Today’s latest transfer rumours involve Arsenal (another young kid), Chelsea (another striker), Manchester United (another starlet?) and then some.

Arsenal in for the next Messi

The player who the Gunners have been linked with is older than Barcelona’s prodigious Argentinean forward, but has still (un)surprisingly been dubbed the next Messi by various tabloids. The player in question is Augusto Fernandez, currently playing for River Plate in the Argentinean league. Fernandez is an attacking midfielder, capable of playing up front if needed, and will cost a reported £10 million pounds should Arsenal want to sign him. As with most talented young players, Arsenal have apparently been tracking him for a while- where he would play though is another issue altogether.

Chelsea after Lyon’s Benzema

Lyon had a fire sale in the summer with quite a few star names like Eric Abidal and Florent Malouda leaving; if Chelsea have their way, those players will not be the last of the big name departures. Reportedly Chelsea are interested in the talented Karim Benzema, a player who has already played for the France national team. Chelsea scouts are supposed to be at the France’s Euro 2008 qualifying game against Lithuania, and with the likes of AC Milan, Inter, Real Madrid and Juventus all rumoured to be interested we may well see a transfer war for the player in January or the summer. Or not, of course :D.

Bolton to sign N’Dour?

A bit of wonderful transfer news; Bolton may be signing a player named after their style of play. Apologies for the cheap, unimaginative jibe, but it had to be done. Senegalese player Alassane N’Dour is currently on trial with the club, and may sign for them if the new manager deems him a worthwhile buy. The N’Dour one (too much? :D) has played for the Senegalese national team, and was at Troyes until his contract ended, and can move to Bolton despite the transfer window being shut as he is a free agent.

Transfer rumours have been pretty dead today; here’s the best of the rest:

  • Ajax to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to ‘wonderkid’ (sorry!) Philip Auta. Are Manchester United and Chelsea Auta funds to sign him?
  • Real Madrid to challenge Manchester United for Serbian starlet (could have used ‘wonderkid’ you know :D) Stevan Jovetic. Real are also going to step up their chase for Fabregas, according to the ever wise Calderon.
  • Roma seeking loan for Manchester City forward Rolando Bianchi; Bianchi of course spoke out yesterday about his desire for more first team games.
  • Apologies all for the really, really, realllly bad puns and will hopefully have some better rumours tomorrow. Guess I’m just Auta luck, eh?
