Well, it’s a pretty short day in news, but there are a few tidbits for you to nibble on.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger is set to give the go-ahead to a sale of Emmanuel Adebayor, which will give the green light to Barcelona or AC Milan to snap him up, and in turn potentially get the ball rolling for more big moves around Europe.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Maybe he’s just ready for things to be over one way or another. Besides, with the way Andrei Arshavin’s value is skyrocketing, he might need every bit of the 20+ mil he’s set to bag from selling Adebayor.

Bolton are reportedly closing in on a Europe-based striker that would cost them a club-record fee. His name? Chairman Phil Gartside won’t say. Nice way to play it close to the vest, Phil.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Reports say that it could be St. Etienne’s Bafetimbi Gomis, who could cost them 10 million pounds or thereabouts.

Everton and Newcastle are set to lose out on FC Twente’s giant of a midfielder Orlando Engelaar, who is poised to sign with Schalke 04.

Rumor Rating: 4 – There’s still hope for one of the Prem duo to get him, if terms can’t be agreed between the two clubs. That’s usually a formality, right?

Birmingham are letting some talent go as they get ready for life in the Championship (a short one, they hope), but one of the players they likely won’t let go of is James McFadden, as they rejected a 5.5 million pound + Bobo Balde offer from Celtic.

Rumor Rating: 2 – Considering that Birmingham bought him for 5 mil in January, Celtic might have to raise their price if they want to make the Blues consider their offer even slightly.

Cardiff are set to up their bid for Rangers striker Kris Boyd, as they recently had a bid rejected.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Despite a good scoring record since his move from Kilmarnock two years ago, Boyd isn’t assured of a regular starting place, especially with three new strikers having arrived already.

Well, like I said, it’s a pretty short day, and we’re already at the end. I’m sure there’ll be much more to report on tomorrow, but until I’m back, chime in and chip in!
