Before I begin today’s transfer roundup – I hear there was some sort of game going on Wednesday. How’d that go, I wonder…

I do feel for John Terry – I’m as happy as can be, but if there’a an opposing player that I respect, it’s Terry, who takes a licking and keeps on ticking. But, you have to wonder – is this what made him miss?

Anyway, off of the sentimental and onto the speculation.

Juventus are in for Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, but according to the Daily Mail, it’s going to cost them a cool 16 million pounds, while Sky Sports is saying 14 million.

Rumor Rating: 4 – That’s about fair – they bought him for 10.5 million, and he’s done well for them in his time there. Certainly not going to take a loss, are they?

Also according to the Daily Mail, Tottenham’s hopes of signing Samuel Eto’o might be fading, as their offer of 107,000 pounds per week isn’t enough to suit the Barca man, even though the 24 million pound bid is negotiable.

Rumor Rating: 3 – That’s good money for most people, but not for everyone, apparently.

However, Spurs supposedly have a cheaper backup plan, in Real Zaragoza’s Diego Milito, who could be on his way to a better club after his current one was relegated to the Segunda Division.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Wouldn’t be a bad signing – Milito has quietly scored quite a few goals wherever he’s been (Argentina, Italy, Spain), so he’d be a good, inexpensive buy if Spurs couldn’t lure a bigger name like Eto’o to White Hart Lane.

Multiple reports say that Marseille’s young star Samir Nasri could be unveiled as an Arsenal player in the next day or two, but the Telegraph says that the 20-year could is now considering other offers, one of which may be from Lyon.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Marseille could be swayed by a swap deal with Lyon, which could include the highly-rated Hatem Ben Arfa, so this one is far from over.

According to The Times, Wigan star Antonio Valencia says he’ll be staying one more season with the Latics, after Manchester United and others have shown interest in him.

Rumor Rating: 5 – This is a good thing for Valencia – he needs to develop a little more before he makes his big move.

The Sun says that Reading’s Nicky Shorey could join West Ham in a 5 million pound move.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Reading are trying to cut some corners after their relegation, and sometimes that involves selling your biggest assets.

Portsmouth have won the race to sign teenage striker Gael N’Lundulu from PSG, as the 16-year old chose to ply his trade abroad instead of pledging his future to PSG.

Rumor Rating: 5 – He’s one for the future.

Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi has signed with Atletico Madrid on a free transfer, going from one Champions League qualifier to another.

Rumor Rating: 5 – La Viola are going to have to move to replace one of their best players ahead of their run at European and domestic success, but given that they likely knew he was on his way out for quite a while, they’re already planning for life without him.

Sevilla have rejected Barcelona’s 25 million euro bid for Daniel Alves, while Barca are reportedly all set to pay the release clause for his teammate Seydou Keita (14 million euros).

Rumor Rating: 5 – Both should be Barcelona players soon – but the longer Barca’s pursuit of Alves lingers on, the more chance someone else has to steal in and pay the money his club wants. In the meantime, Sevilla have signed Le Mans midfielder Christian Koffi Ndri Romaric as a replacement for Keita.

The Daily Mail says that Wolves are lining up a 4 million pound bid for Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty, who has already been the object of 3 million pound bids by Celtic and Rangers, which the Championship side rejected.

Rumor Rating: 3 – The 20-year old is already making a name for himself (five goals in 16 appearances for Northern Ireland) – will the bigger bid move Burnley to sell him to a rival side within their league?

Well, that’s it for today – chime in, chip in, and I’ll be back later.
