Transfer Rumors: Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Bordeaux

Can someone clue me in – did Tottenham always have this much to spend, or is it the fact that they’re realizing that winning is nice that’s making them shell out big bucks?

Today’s transfer rumors are Spurs-heavy, so if you hate Tottenham, or are a Spurs fan who doesn’t want to get their hopes up (or dashed), it’s okay to read selectively.

Tottenham may have a fight on their hands if they want to capture Samuel Eto’o. Inter have reportedly put in a 32 million pound offer for the Barcelona striker.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Can Spurs match that offer? Any mega-rich Tottenham fans out there willing to help your club nab one of the top strikers in the biz?

Sevilla defensive star Daniel Alves is on the verge of a move to Barcelona, as the Brazilian has agreed terms with the club.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Barca’s defense has had some lapses this season, and signing one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe will aid their push towards the top of La Liga and Europe.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to sign Cardiff starlet Aaron Ramsey for five million pounds, beating out Arsenal and Chelsea for the 17-year old’s signature. Ramsey has been impressive for the FA Cup finalists, and has already broken into the Welsh U-21 team.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Cardiff have turned down bid after bid from Premier League clubs, but this must’ve been an offer that they couldn’t refuse.

Tottenham are also looking towards the future, as they’re set to snap up highly-rated midfielder John Bostock from Crystal Palace, according to the Daily Mail. The 16-year old broke into Palace’s first team this season, making five appearances, and has 13 caps for England”s U-17s.

Rumor Rating: 4 – It’s good to be young, talented, and in demand, isn’t it? Does someone have a time machine I can borrow?

Tottenham are also after Arsenal target Jean Makoun, Richard Dunne (Newcastle target, and also possibly an Arsenal target), and Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pedersen, according to various reports.

Rumor Rating: 3 – If you play the percentages, they’ll get at least one of these players, but not all three. If they have any intentions of getting Eto’o without going bankrupt, Dunne might be their best and least expensive option. Makoun could cost more than 10 million pounds, and Blackburn won’t sell Pedersen for cheap – if at all.

For the Ligue 1 fans, Laurent Blanc and championship hopefuls Bordeaux are reportedly interested in a trio of players to help their European and domestic ambitions for the future: Manchester United’s Mikael Silvestre, AC Milan’s Yohann Gourcuff, and Monaco hot-shot Jeremy Menez.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Silvestre and Gourcuff are basically surplus to requirements at their respective clubs, so they are definitely reachable targets. Menez might be the most expensive, but he’s reportedly expressed interest in playing for Bordeaux, so a deal could be in the works.

According to a Spanish radio station, Chelsea made a 40 million pound bid for Fernando Torres, which, as you might expect, was turned down.

Rumor Rating: -6,573 – Well, I got my laugh for the day in…

THat’s it for the day – you know what to do from here, folks. Chime in, chip in, and I’ll be back tomorrow.
