When we’ve been working hard for a while, we can’t help but look forward to having a vacation. However, sometimes you might miss something when you’re away, like today’s transfer roundup, or signing a promising young midfielder.

It looks like Arsenal, not Manchester United, are now the favorites to sign Aaron Ramsey. While Sir Alex has thus far been unable to meet face-to-face with Ramsey thanks to being on holiday in France, Arsene Wenger flew the Ramsey family to where he was in Switzerland, which may have won them over.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Bad time to take a vacation, eh? Maybe it’s not too late for United to snatch in and snag him, but Arsene’s got a good track record of producing talented youngsters, so he’s in line to develop well whether it’s in London or Manchester. Ramsey’s decision is set to be announced in the next couple of days, so we’ll see who he chooses soon.

Gareth Barry has told Martin O’Neill that he wants to leave Aston Villa for Liverpool in order to achieve his dream of Champions League football.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Well, the line in the sand has been drawn. Will O’Neill finally cave and let his captain go?

Reports are saying that Deco is set to snub a move to Chelsea, instead choosing to move to Inter, where he’ll be reunited with Jose Mourinho, who he played for at Porto.

Rumor Rating: 5 – The fee is reportedly 12 to 13 million euros, with Deco signing a three-year contract with the club to be the first signing of the Mourinho era in Milan.

Everton could make a swift move for Sporting’s Joao Moutinho in an attempt to land him before the big boys jump in for him.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Moutinho’s valued at 16 million pounds, but it doesn’t look to be a stumbling block for the Toffees. There’ve been no concrete offers for the young winger yet, so if Everton make their move quick enough, he could be theirs.

Former Arsenal man Jose Reyes is being linked with a move to Newcastle. Is it a serious possibility?

Rumor Rating: 1 – He couldn’t wait to get out of England, so why would he come back? He could be ready to leave Atletico Madrid after a disappointing debut season that resulted his omission for Spain’s Euro 2008 squad, but England? Possible, but not likely.

Portsmouth are being linked with a 4 million pound bid for former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira.

Rumor Rating: 3 – That would be quite a coup for ambitious Pompey, but we’ll see how or if it develops.

Aston Villa could be making a move for Benfica defender Nelson. The Portuguese defender isn’t happy about how things are going with his contract situation, so an offer of 10 million euros could be tabled for the 24-year old.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Benfica have turned down two offers for Nelson from Villa in the past, so Martin O’Neill can’t count his chickens yet.

Villa could also be looking to make a 2 million pound move for Liverpool’s Steve Finnan.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Rafa Benitez could be all too willing to let Villa get him, not only because he might be surplus to requirements, but also because he might need all the help he can get to pull Barry away from the Midlands.

According to the Daily Mirror, Middlesbrough is closing in on a 3 million pound deal for American star Michael Bradley.

Rumor Rating: 5 – If Bradley can continue to find the net as regularly as he did in Holland, that 3 million could be a huge bargain for Boro.

West Brom’s Zoltan Gera has decided to go from one likely relegation struggler to another, as he’s leaving the newly-promoted Baggies for Fulham.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Will he end up ruing this move if Fulham go down and West Brom stay up next season?

Well, that’s it for today – what do you think about today’s rumors? Should Ramsey join Arsenal or Manchester United? Should Villa finally let Barry go, or is he being an ungrateful little so-and-so? Would Portsmouth be a good fit for Vieira?

Chime in, chip in, and I’ll be back tomorrow.
