There’s not a great deal to report on today, unless you want to hear a few recycled rumors regarding the ‘will he, won’t he?’ sagas of Emmanuel Adebayor, Alexander Hleb, and Andrei Arshavin.

But, there are some signings to report from around Europe, so the cupboard certainly isn’t bare in news.

Milan are claiming that Arsenal have agreed to start negotiations for Adebayor, that Ade only wants to play for Milan and that the only stumbling block is the price tag.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Seems like Ade refused to accept the improved terms then (if he got any offers that is). Will Milan pay twice the real value for Adebayor, on top of the high wages that they’re supposedly promising him?

Chelsea may be holding on to Frank Lampard after all, or they may be holding out for more money. The Blues rejected Inter’s bid of 7.95 million pounds on Tuesday, and the club says they won’t be entering into any discussions over a transfer.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Well, if they do hold on to him, a contract best be resolved in the next few months, or he’ll be on his way for free next summer.

Blackburn have raised David Bentley’s price from 15 million pounds to 17 million, in a possible attempt to try to price suitors out of a move for him.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Whether or not Bentley moves may depend on whether any of his suitors (Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa, Tottenham) can sell any of the players that have been linked with moves away from their respective clubs.

Bolton could be making a move for Malaga midfielder Antonio Hidalgo. Hidalgo is listed as a defensive midfielder, but he scored 14 goals in helping Malaga get promoted to the Spanish top flight last term.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Hidalgo had a better scoring ratio (14 goals in 39 games) than a lot of strikers do, so maybe Gary Megson try to stick him up front to aid the attack next season.

West Brom have been active in the market this summer, and they could be making another move soon, as they’re interested in Bolton’s Abdoulaye Meite. The 27-year old Ivorian defender would likely cost West Brom in the region of 3 million pounds.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Meite and Megson have patched things up after some rocky times last season, but with West Brom, among others, interested in him, Meite’s future looks likely to be away from the Reebok.

Fenerbahce have won the race to sign Mallorca striker Dani Guiza. The Champions League quarterfinalists just unveiled Luis Aragones as their new coach, and they’ve signed one of the players from his Euro 2008-winning squad. The 27-year old Guiza, who was La Liga’s top scorer with 27 goals and added two in Euro 2008, is the most expensive foreigner to move to Turkey, as Fener sealed the deal for a reported 17.4 million euros.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Fenerbahce already had quite a scoring punch, as they led the Turkish league in goals last season with 72. If Guiza can take the momentum from his career season to his new club, he could be a key in another deep Champions League run.

With Valencia apparently distancing themselves from a move for Tottenham’s Pascal Chimbonda, which could clear the way for Martin Jol and Hamburg SV to make a move for him.

Rumor Rating: 5 – HSV had the second-best defensive record in the Bundesliga (26 goals allowed in 34 games) last season, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to beef up the back line.

Former Werder Bremen striker Ivan Klasnic has agreed a four-year deal with newly-promoted Nantes.

Rumor Rating: 5 – Klasnic has the well-documented kidney issues, but he’ll add a lot to his new club, both in the scoring charts and with his vast experience and success both domestically and internationally.

In case you didn’t know that social networking sites are just as bad as they are good, here’s a fine example. Crystal Palace winger Ashley-Paul Robinson decided he’d share with Facebook that he was set for a trial with Fulham, when it was something that he wasn’t supposed to tell. Methinks he has a nice lecture from Neil Warnock coming, if he hasn’t gotten one already

Well, that’s it for the day in rumors. If you’re disappointed, I promise there’ll be a lot more to talk about tomorrow. Don’t hold me to it though, but until then, chime in with your opinions on today’s rumors, chip in with rumors that you’ve dug up, and I’ll be back with more tomorrow.
