Congratulations to Aston Villa for signing Marlon Harewood – Martin O’Neill must see something in him, otherwise no one buys rubbish strikers, do they?

Anyway, here’s today’s transfer rumours, have a look and discuss.
Chelsea
Fabio Cannavaro’s agent has claimed that they’ve turned down Chelsea’s offer.
The funny thing is that either Chelsea contacted the agent directly, which is illegal, or Real Madrid gave Canna the option to go, which is ridiculous as well. I smell more Marca bullshit, so I’m going to chalk this one up as completely made up (either by the agent or by Marca).
Robben signed by Real Madrid.
This comes despite Mourinho strongly insisting that Robben was going to stay.
I’m quite surprised that Chelsea decided to let Robben go – it seems to be a case of the player refusing to sign the new contract and the club cashing in on him instead of having an unhappy player on the books who could leave for free later on. Better than Bogarde, at least.
Chelsea are apparently after Pascal Chimbonda, while Glen Johnson has been offered as part of any deal.
Chimbonda is good but not Chelsea-good. Dani Alves seems to be the better option, and if Chimbonda is penciled in as a backup then it would only be if Ferreira was going to be shipped out. I don’t see any point in this, although SWP has also been rumoured to be tracked by Tottenham, which makes things more interesting.
Manchester United
Will Tevez have a medical, or won’t he?
The Tevez saga rumbles on, this time with two conflicting reports. One says that Manchester United will push through with the medical no matter what West Ham say, others say that the deal has hit a snag and the Tevez medical will be put on hold until Manchester United, West Ham, Premier League and MSI sort their shit out.
This one could go into August.

More like Man City and FC United fighting for the player. Manchester United have 3 keepers on their books, all of them capable of being first-choice outside the top four. They don’t need a 4th keeper, unless they were getting a Buffon or Casillas. Last time I heard those two were not for sale at any price.
Sunderland
Sunderland are widely tipped to pay 9m to secure Craig Gordon’s services.
That’s what I like about Sunderland – money to spend and going after quality players. Mind you, it’s a gamble considering that Sunderland may not stay up next season, but with Roy Keane at the helm you have every reason to think that they will.
I’d expect Gordon to turn down the deal unless he was offered obscene amounts of money – although Keano is a persuasive man, so you never know.
While Sunderland may not be a big attraction, managers can often be the main draw for the player.
Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins has rejected a £13m move to Arsenal and will stay in the north-east. (Daily Express)
Tottenham
Tottenham after Shawn Wright-Phillips?
Another winger on the wrong end of the pitch? I doubt Tottenham will go for SWP, although getting him onboard will definitely strengthen Tottenham and will give the depth they sometimes lacked last season.
Why would SWP leave though? He’s happy with his bench position at Chelsea.

Tottenham fans, pray to your gods that Birmingham City pay that 5m. You won’t get a better offer than this.

Manchester City
West Ham and Manchester City will have to match £5.5m offers from Sevilla and Galatasaray for Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz.
There is no way West Ham or Manchester City can compete with Sevilla’s CL place, so unless they’re willing to overpay an average striker (and I mean grossly over-pay him to the point of pissing his new teammates off), no go there.
Middlesbrough and Manchester City are in the running for Charlton’s £3m-rated defender Luke Young.
Manchester City already have 3 signings, and they will be linked with everyone before July ends, even if they sign 10 players by then.
AC Milan
AC Milan are after Roma winger Mancini, Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o, wonderkid Pato and CSKA Moskow’s Vagner Love.
Vagner Love is just the latest striker to be linked with AC Milan after their stated intention to bring in a quality striker to fill the Shevchenko-sized hole in their squad.
A move to Milan would tempt Mancini and Roma will understandably resist any advances from a title rival, Giuly or no Giuly. Milan are also reported to be after Alexander Pato, although this is like linking Chelsea with every young talent – there’s no real basis to this one yet.
Surely Milan realise that if Barcelona don’t want to sell Eto’o, the 35m will be thrown right back at them? As long as Eto’o has patched up with Ronaldinho and Rijkaard (there’s every reason to suggest that he has), Barcelona won’t sell for 50m, let alone 35m.
