Once you consider that Manchester United has two of the best wingers in the world (Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo), it’s no surprise that the Old Trafford club has managed to punch above its weight in the Premiership on the back of their performances.
And while Giggsy is getting on his years (surely even he has to retire some day), Ronaldo is only 21 and has at least a decade of quality football in him.
He might not stick around Manchester United for too many years, but this is one player who definitely has the potential, the skills and most importantly, the balls to become a Manchester United legend.
Of course, he has his faults (should cross more, pass more), but he’s also playing in teams (Manchester United and Portugal) where he is the main creative influence – and therefore he takes on the responsibility (and clearly is better for it) and that’s where the selfish streak shines through.
Here’s a video from Portugal’s 3-0 win against Azerbaijan from the Euro 2008 qualifier last night – Ronaldo scored two goals and in between and this goal disallowed.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick, goal not given
Let’s hope he continues his hot streak for Manchester United as well.
